Förderung des deutschen Filmerbes — künstlerischer, dokumentarischer und experimenteller Film. Auch Drehbuch und Festival.
Die DEFA-Stiftung bewahrt das Filmerbe der DEFA und foerdert die deutsche Filmkunst und -kultur. Historisch unterstuetzte sie kuenstlerische, dokumentarische und experimentelle Filme sowie Drehbuch- und Festivalvorhaben durch Projektmittel und Stipendien. Die Vergabe von Projektmitteln und Stipendien wurde 2014/15 aus finanziellen Gruenden eingestellt; aktuell vergibt die Stiftung vor allem Foerderpreise auf Festivals in Dresden, Leipzig und Schwerin. Kommerzielle Vorhaben sind satzungsgemaess ausgeschlossen.
